Water Solutions - Dosing

Chemical Dosing

This type of system is the most popular and effective method of treating water before its heated in instantaneous water heating units, particularly combination and condensing boilers.

The system works by sequestering the calcium in the water and prevents it from forming scale on the heat exchanger.

When choosing a chemical dosing system, care must be taken to ensure it is unaffected by water volume and pressure as overdosing can cause chemicals to stick to the heat exchanger and cause premature failure.

Aqua-Dial and Liff manufacture chemical dosing units called Combi-Care and Combi-Flow, which need recharging with chemicals only once a year - convenient for the customer and preventative maintenance schedules.

Chemical Treatment

Sealed heating systems such as central heating radiators and circuits also need protection from scale and corrosion. A number of propriety brands are available including Sentinel.

Always check the product you supply is approved for the system in which it will be used, and is of sufficient strength. Too weak a solution can cause more problems than no solution at all.
